All of us at KVPI 92.5 were in a holiday mood. We got down the Christmas tree and decorations today and played lots of Christmas music. KVPI celebrates 69th birthday Tuesday November 22, 2022

It was 69 years ago Tuesday that this location was the new home of Ville Platte's brand new radio station. The call letters chosen by the F.C.C. was KVPI.. The original staff that assembled on that Sunday morning included Chris Duplechain, the first general manager. Laura Lou Soileau, receptionist, L.D. "Bootsie" Cappell, DJ and Sports announcer, "Moon" Carson and Guy Mitchell, sales people and Dr. J.S. Fontenot, DJ and Chief Engineer. Since that very first day, a lot of DJ's and employees have come and gone, we have changed musical formats many times, we now have two FM radio stations, and we are now streaming on the internet,. Still our core mission statement has not changed: Keeping Ville Platte Informed and Entertained. We have always believed in serving our local and area listeners with local news, local sports, and promoting our French culture and language. Thank you to our cherished listeners and clients who have supported us through these past 69 years . We are planning a big event next November to celebrate our 70th anniversary so be watching for it.

Children's Book Winner Announced

Book Winner November 1, 2022 Classic Hits 921.5 KVPI had a drawing today from nearly 60 qualifiers for the free children's book" The Crazy Cat from Ville Plate" by Author Rhonda B. LeJeune. Our winning entry is Mitzi Fontenot. Congratulations MitzI Fontenot from all of us at KVPI.

DJ Hayley joins the KVPI family of Announcers

All of us at KVPI would like to make welcome the newest member of our on air staff: DJ Hayley. She will be the voice you will hear Sunday mornings on KVPI The Legend with the various religious programs. She will also DJ a Classic Country show Su0nday afternoons from 3;00-6;00pm on KVPI The Legend 107.3 FM and 1050 AM. Please help us welcome Hayley to the KVPI family.

Mamou High Cheerleaders visited KVPI Studios

The Mamou High School Cheerleaders visited KVPI studios today to record three special cheers including a customized KVPI cheer. The girls also sat in with DJ Karlee for a few minutes and did a live cheer during her radio show. Thank you to the 2022 Mamou High School Cheerleaders: Sarah Dupre, Lauren Manuel., Olivia Bruney, Hallie Guillory, Brianna Runnels, Alyssa Manuel, Madison Malvaux, Laniey Fontenot, Mylee Aguillard, Jacie Fontenot, Allenie Dick, Sydney Aguillard, Ellen Deshotel, Chloe Drummer, Ava Vidrine, Jaiden Richard, Payton Parker and Alaina Matte.

We have a winner in our Zydeco Festival Ticket Giveaway

Zydeco Festival September 1, 2022 Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI had a drawing of those who qualified on Facebook to win a pair of tickets to attend this year's 40th annual Original Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Festival in Opelousas. Congratulations to Kelly Deculus who won a pair of tickets to the festival. The kickoff dance is Friday night at Evangeline Downs and continues all day Saturday at the Yambilee Festival Grounds.

New KVPI T Shirts have Arrived

Christmas came early for your friends at Classic Hits 92-5 KVPI. Our shipment of new T shirts arrived today. We have two members of our staff who were proud to show off our new t shirts: Karlee and Kaylee. The back features our two logos and promotes La Tasse de Cafe and being honored as Radio Station of the Year. The front logo features our corporate logo: Ville Platte Broadcasting Company.. KVPI Welcomes New DJ Ethan to our staff of announcers

Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI is proud to welcome the newest member of our staff of announcers: DJ Ethan. You can hear Ethan Saturday mornings from 7:00am to 12 noon and Thursday nights on the Party time show from 6-9pm. Welcome aboard Ethan.

Congratulations to Hillary Hill in our KVPI Father's Day contest

Congratulations to our winning father, Hillary Hill in our KVPI Father's Day contest that just ended. He came in today along with his daughter, Liz and son, David. Mother's Day Contest Contest Winner Announced My 4, 2022 Classic Hits 92-5 KVPI had our drawing in our Mother's Day contest. We had over 65 qualifiers from our social sites and from our contest line. Congratulations to our winning Mom: Tiffany C. Poole. Tiffany has won flowers from the Flower Patch, a night stay at Paragon Casino Hotel, a meal for two and a spa treatment at Paragon, a prize package worth over $400 in value. Her mother, Gwendolyn Lafleur nominated her on Facebook.. Part of the nominating post stated as follows:" She finished high school with honors and went to beauty college and went back to school for dental assistant to have two careers to choose from. She was a single mom for quite a while until she met and married the man of her dreams: Ethan Poole. Together they added two more children to their beautiful family. Tiffany has their children involved in activities such as dance and baseball. She never gets a break, she is usually hauling one to dance and the other two to baseball. She does most of this by herself because her husband is a lineman and is gone from home most of the time. Tiffany doesn't ask for much, just love and hugs from her children and family". Congratulations to Bud n Boilin Winner Amy Palmer

Congratulations to our grand prize winner in the KVPI Bud n Boilin contest: Amy Palmer. We drew her name among the more than 50 qualifiers on Wednesday. Amy won a 24 pack of Budweiser beer, a sack of crawfish from B&L Seafood in Mamou and a crawfish pot and a boiling kit from Vidrine's Ace Hardware in Ville Platte. KVPI Welcomes DJ Paige to our Family

All of us at KVPI would like to welcome the newest member to our staff : DJ Paige. Paige is originally from Oakdale and now lives in Evangeline Parish with her husband and children. United Way Contest Giveaway for two lucky Children

Starting Thursday, Classic Hits 92-5 KVPI will be taking listener phone calls at our contest line at 337-506-2444 to qualify to win one of two motorized Toddler Quads. You can qualify to win one for your child or grand child by calling us when you hear the cue to call "Peter Cottontail" by Gene Autry. One qualifier per family. One prize will go to a girl and one to a boy. Christmas will come early to a child or grandchild. Our grand prize drawing will be held Thursday April 14. KVPI "Bud n Boilin" contest begins Monday

Starting Monday, Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI will team up with Southwest Beverage to qualify listeners every day for the 2022 "Bud 'n" Boilin" contest. Each day we will qualify five lucky listeners for the grand prize drawing. The cue to call is the sound of the beer can tab being pulled off and beer being poured into a glass. Be caller 5 when you hear the cue to call. You must be 18 or older to qualify and one qualifier per family . We will have a drawing to choose our grand prize winner Wednesday April 13 at 12:00pm. KVPI-FM Wins Uniquely Louisiana Award for our French Programming

We won!!!The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters at their Prestige Awards event today (Thursday) presented to KVPI-FM the "Uniquely Louisiana" award for our Cajun French programming. This is the second year in a row KVPI has won the "Uniquely Louisiana award. Last year, we won for our coverage of Louisiana Swamp Pop music. In his comments, KVPI General Manager Mark Layne thanked Polly Johnson and the Broadcasters of Louisiana for this honor. He expressed his appreciation to the hard working and dedicated members of his staff: Misty Parker, Tobin Deville, Karlee Blevins, Mallory Moser, Ray Duplechain, Swabby Soileau, Charlie Manuel, Mike Perron, Gabe Fontenot, Bert Miller , Robert Richard and our engineer, Dave Graichen. He thanked DJ Deet for her work in compiling the nomination video. He recognized the late Chris Duplechain who began the French News and programming the day we first signed on in 1953 and other French announcers who have worked with us through the years including Jim Soileau, Dan Andrus, Lee Manuel and Roland Manuel. He thanked the owners, Ville Platte Broadcasting Company President, Dr. Rhonda Fink Pucheu for her continued support by allowing us to do local community service programming and continuing a tradition that began 69 years ago. Valentine Contest Winner February 9, 2022 KVPI selected its grand prize winning couple for our Valentine Contest this morning. Congratulations Olivia and Dustin Guillory. The couple resides in Eunice. Olivia, a native of Ville Platte works in Mamou. Our judges had its work cut out with right at 100 entries to review. It was one of our most successful Valentine promotions. We want to thank every couple who entered the contest. Our winning couple has won a free night stay at Coushatta Casino Hotel, a meal for two at Coushatta Casino and a dozen roses.

Elvis Presley Birthday Spotlight Saturday

Elvis Presley would have celebrated his 87th birthday Saturday. Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI plans to spotlight all his classic songs including his early 50's hits, his movie soundtrack hits in the 1960's and his memorable hits from the 1970's. We will play them all Saturday night from 6;00-12 midnight. We want to know: what is your personal favorite Elvis song? Congratulations to Deet-KVPI's Employee of the Year

The KVPI Staff held our annual Christmas social at Cafe Evangeline tonight. We had a full house. Thanks to Chef Jay for his delicious food and hospitality. Congratulations to Deet for being named KVPI Employee of the Year honors. Retired Account Representative Becky Vidrine was honored for her years of service to KVPI. Ville Platte Broadcasting Company President Dr. Rhonda Fink Pucheu addressed the staff and made a presentation to each member. Dr. Rhonda was joined by members of her family: Sarah Moser Fruge, Rebecca and Ethan and wife, Malllory . Thank you to every member of our staff who do a remarkable job each and every day to keep Ville Platte Informed and Entertained.

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.

Admission charge is $3 adults,

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
