Basile High School Cheerleaders visited KVPI studios to record special cheers

The Basile High School Cheerleaders stopped by KVPI studios tonight to record special cheers for us to play during football season. The cheers included a special KVPI cheer and a longer cheer naming each cheerleader. Good luck Basile High as well as the rest of our high school teams this season.

Dutch Publication Doing Story on KVPI's French Language Programming

We had special guests visiting us for our French News and La Tasse de Cafe radio show on Wednesday: Thomas Rueb, a journalist with the Dutch newspaper "Volkskrnt" and photographer Emily Kask from New Orleans. He is working on a news story on KVPI's coverage of our French culture.

Salute to Law Enforcement on KVPI August 10

KVPI sponsored a special salute to our local and area law enforcement officers today in a special live call -in program. Among those officers who were in attendance in our studios were Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, , Mamou Police Chief Pat Hall, Basile Police Chief Allen Ivory and Assistant Chief A.J. Frank, Chataignier Police Chief Will T. Gallow, Pine Prairie Police Chief L.C. Deshotel and Officer Kevin Tate along with officers with the Ville Platte City Marshal's Office. We want to support our men and women in blue and also remember a fallen officer, Barry Giglio, who was killed in the line of duty last week. Thank you to those of you who called to show your support for these officers who are there protecting all of us 24/7.

Live remote at Evangeline Portable Buildings Friday 10-12 noon

Salute to Law Enforcement Program

Salute to Law Enforcement August 8, 2023 Classic Hits 92-5 KVPI is planning a salute to law enforcement program Thursday at 12:30pm. We have invited the sheriff and all of the police chiefs in the parish to attend this special program. After the tragic death of Marshal Barry Giglio killed in the line of duty last week, we want to honor the men and women in blue. KVPI Staff Get Together at Sip and Savor Restaurant

The KVPI staff had a get together tonight (Wednesday) at Sip and Savor Restaurant. General Manager Mark Layne said it was a way to say thank you for many members of the staff who worked extra hours to cover all shifts while he was out for the last two months recovering from knee surgery. He also announced that Misty Parker who was in charge in his absence was named as new Assistant Manager. The entire staff was in attendance except for Britney Speyrer. KVPI owner Rhonda Pucheu and her husband John Pucheu were in attendance. Special thanks to Renee and her crew for the delicious meal at Sip and Savor.

KVPI Salutes our office crew for Administrative Professionals Day

I finally got to treat my special ladies at KVPI for Administrative Professionals Day even though we're about a week late. We have a great team and proud to have these very special ladies in the front office. We had a delicious meal at Sip and Savor. Boggy Bayou Festival Queen Madison Fasske visited KVPI studios today

We had royalty visit our KVPI studios today. Boggy Bayou Festival Queen #37 Madison Fasske of Dequincy recorded an interview that we will play back Wednesday May 10 at 12:30pm for this year's Boggy Bayou Festival. She will be crowning her successor Saturday afternoon May 13 at the festival. She is in college now preparing to be an educator.. Congratulations Madison for representing the festival in your journeys through the state this past year.

The Bayou Chicot Jr. High girls softball team visited KVPI studios today to record an interview to talk about their state championship season. Julia Johnson Interview

Tune in to KVPI FM 92-5 Wednesday at 12:30pm as we play back an interview with golf champion Julia Johnson, a native of Pine Prairie. She was a standout high school golfer winning three individual state championships. She attended Ole Miss and she became the most decorated female athlete in the history of Ole Miss athletics. While at Ole Miss, she led the Lady Rebels to the 2021 National Championship, the first in school history. She plans to participate in the National Women's Amateur Championship at Augusta. After the tournament, she plans to turn pro in April.
