Evangeline Parish Sheriffs K-9 Unit sponsors a drug demonstration at KVPI Studios

The KVPI staff was treated today to a demonstration by two members of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department and their K9 drug dog, Diego. Captain Josh Lafleur and K9 Dog Handler Deputy Matthew Willis made the presentation to our staff. Diego was able to locate packets of drugs that were hidden as part of the demonstration. Finally, a member of our staff, DJ Rose Wolf, volunteered to wear a protective sleeve while the dog went into an attack mode and grabbed the sleeve off her arm . It was quite a sight. Thank you to Josh, Matthew and to Sheriff Charles Guillory for putting on this demonstration.

The late Jim Soileau honored as a Hall of Fame broadcaster

The KVPI staff presented to the daughters of the late Jim Soileau a special Hall of Fame award from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters for a lifetime of broadcasting excellence. Jim died March 8 after a short illness. Shown here are KVPI General Manager Mark Layne, Jamie Vidrine, Jessica Soileau and Traffic Director Cheryl DeBaillon. Part Time French Announcer is needed at KVPI

Help Wanted-French Announcer April 7, 2021 KVPI is wishing to hire an additional part time announcer to handle the French News and Tradio on Saturdays. The ideal candidate will be able to speak French well and be able to translate English news and commercial copy into French. We need someone to work Saturday mornings from 7:00am to 8:00am. The announcer will be do the 7:30am French News every Saturday along with the Tradio (Trading Post) program. The chosen applicant will join a team of professionals dedicated at preserving our French language and heritage for future generations. KVPI receives broadcasting award from Polly Johnson with La. Association of Broadcasters

Today, we had the pleasure of greeting Polly Johnson, President and C.E.O. of the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters to KVPI. She personally delivered our award we won at the recent Prestige awards event. KVPI-FM won for the second year in a row the "Uniquely Louisiana" award for our coverage of Swamp Pop music through the years. Shown in the second photo are staff announcers: Deet and Rose Wolf checking out our new award. She also brought the coveted Hall of Fame award honoring the late Jim Soileau. We plan to present the award to Jim's family next week. Thank you, Polly for all you for the the broadcasters in Louisiana.

Bud n Boiling Contest Kicks off Monday on Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI FM

KVPI Wins Broadcaster Award and Jim Soileau inducted into Hall of Fame

KVPI Wins Uniquely Louisiana Broadcast Award March 18, 2021 For the second year in a row, KVPI has won the "Uniquely Louisiana" award today (Thursday) at the Prestige Awards ceremony conducted by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. KVPI-FM was awarded the honor for our coverage and support of Louisiana Swamp Pop music. Last year, we won for the La Tasse de Café Radio program. Also recognized at the awards ceremony was the late Jim Soileau who was inducted into the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame for his lifetime of broadcasting excellence over KVPI. Our special thanks to Polly Johnson with the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters from the entire staff at KVPI 92.5 FM, 107.3 and 1050 AM The Legend. KVPI Christmas Supper December 5, 2020

KVPI had our annual Christmas supper at Cafe Evangeline. Due to Covid 19 concerns, the food was for take out. KVPI Live remote for the Open House at the Dr. Fink and Moser's office in Eunice

KVPI 92.5 covered the holiday open house at the newly remodeled and enlarged Dr.'s Fink and Moser offices in downtown Eunice tonight. A large group of well wishers and patients attended the event and enjoyed the food and refreshments. Door prizes were given . Congratulations Dr. Rhonda Fink Moser and Dr. Sarah Moser Fruge for their successful event. The two are shown in front of decorated lobby/waiting room. Shana Harrison with Modo eyewear was there showing over a hundred fashion frames. Thank you to the staff for allowing us to broadcast and who took part in our remote.

I Love Ville Platte Grand Prize Winner

Our judges have selected our winning photo in our "I Love Ville Platte" contest. It was submitted by the Ville Platte Fire Department. From these firefighters, our judges had a random drawing of these five firefighters and chose Kyle Dupre, a full time fire fighter who is shown as the second firefighter in this beautiful photo. As our grand prize winner, Kyle Dupre has won a one night stay and a meal for two at Coushatta Casino in Kinder. Thank you to everyone who entered the contest. Today was a bittersweet moment for all of us at KVPI. Jim Soileau, formally announced his retirement during La Tasse de Cafe. The phones never stopped ringing wanting to wish all the best to Jim. KVPI La Tasse de Cafe now on every morning Monday through Friday from 8-9am

History will be made on Tuesday . Starting Tuesday, September 1 , we are debuting our brand new Tuesday edition of "La Tasse de Cafe" radio show. We want to thank our many listeners and to the wonderful sponsors who support us and made it possible to expand to Tuesday. Now we are on Monday through Friday from 8-9am. The call-in bi-lingual radio show was a suggestion by former KVPI radio announcer and record producer Floyd Soileau in 1966. From its humble beginnings, the show has grown by leaps and bounds. We have callers from all over the world including Australia who have called us.. The show has been featured in TV news reports, news stations from France and Belgium and the Wall Street Journal. The show was recognized by Louisiana Broadcasters earlier this year by winning the "Uniquely Louisiana " award by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. DJ Deet joins the KVPI family as Staff Announcer

Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI would like to welcome Elizabeth Claire Vidrine as our newest full time staff announcer. Claire is a graduate of Tulane University and is a second generation broadcaster: her mother, the former Anita Soileau, was a DJ here at KVPI back in the 1980's. You can hear her on the morning show, Monday through Thursday from 9-12 noon from 9-12 noon. Her on-air DJ name will be "Deet". She is a big fan of Jim Henson and his movie "The Dark Crystal" is her favorite. The name Deet came from the new series being shown on Netflix. Her puppy is also named Deet. Would you please join us in welcoming Deet to the KVPI family?

KVPI Road Crew on live remote at Ville Platte Cricket Wireless Store

The Classic Hits 92.5 road crew was on the road for the first of three days of live remotes at the new Cricket Wireless store in Ville Platte near Walmart off LaSalle Street. The road crew, John Hadley and Mark Layne were there giving away T shirts and coozies and talking with the store crew and Cricket corporate personnel. We will be there on remote again Friday from 4-5pm and Saturday from 2-3pm. The store was giving away free food today from Cravin's Food truck. Friday, they will be announcing a new free I-Phone promotion.Be sure to come by and say hello Friday.
