Sacred Heart Cheerleaders visit KVPI studios to record special cheers

The Sacred Heart Trojan cheerleaders visited KVPI studios after school today to record special cheers and shouts including a custom cheer for 92.5. While here, they had a chance to go on live radio with DJ Ray and they did a cheer for our listeners. Great job girls...Geaux Trojans!!!

Pine Prairie Cheerleaders visit KVPI studios August 25

The Pine Prairie High School Cheerleaders under the direction of coach Rachel Doucet visited KVPI studios today to record cheers for the football season. We also got them to do some live shout outs over Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI. Geaux Panthers.

Cajun Coop Live KVPI Remote

The Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI road crew did a live remote broadcast today at the Cajun Coop restaurant to help promote their new all you can eat buffet. The staff remained busy through the entire lunch hour with lunch goers enjoying a great seafood buffet. They also gave away several $50 gift vouchers to those who attended. Special thanks to John Deville and his great staff for inviting us to attend.

French Immersion Teachers visit KVPI La Tasse de Cafe

We had our first set of French Immersion teachers visit us at KVPI studios this morning during La Tasse de Cafe. The three instructors are teaching at Mamou Elementary. From left, we have a teacher who hails from Natchitoches who learned French in school and is now teaching French, our second instructor hails from Quebec, Canada and our couple comes from France. We also had our good friend Wanda Verette from Mamou along with our French teacher's husband who brought us "Pain Perdu" and French doughnuts Also coming in was our next door neighbor, Terry Guillory, who dropped off some delicious pears. We have a second group of Immersion teachers scheduled to visit with Charlie and Mike Thursday morning. Bien Merci!!

Louisiana's Leroux Concert Cancelled

The Louisiana's Leroux concert planned for this weekend in Baton Rouge at the Crowne Plaza has been cancelled because three of the band members have contracted Covid-19. KVPI will be notified once the show is rescheduled and we plan to do a ticket giveaway at that time.

Dick Bartley presents Rock n Roll's Greatest The 60's Show

Girls Softball All stars visit KVPI Studios

KVPI would like to wish the very best to both our local girls softball all star teams as they both advance to represent us at the Pony League Softball World Series Tournament in Youngsville starting Wednesday. We had the 10U girls and coaches and the 8U girls and coaches with us today in our KVPI studios. Each player recorded a special shoutout that you will be hearing on 92.5 KVPI all next week. We also recorded special interviews with the coaches. You can hear both interviews back to back Monday at 12:30pm starting with the the 10U coaches followed by the 8U coaches.

KVPI welcomes new Saturday announcer

KVPI FRENCH ANNOUNCER JUNE 25, 2021 KVPI is proud to announce a new member to our announcing staff: Robert Richard of Scott, Louisiana. Robert will take over the French announcing duties on Saturday mornings including the French News and Tradio. Robert is a native of Kaplan and a long time resident of Breaux Bridge. He is retired from the LSU Ag Center in 2009 and spent the next eight years as principal of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic School in Scott. Robert and his wife, Carla have four grown children and five grandchildren. Please join us in welcoming Robert Richard as a new member to the KVPI family of announcers.

KVPI is looking to hire a new part time DJ for weekend work

KVPI is accepting applications for a weekend position for a part time DJ. No experience is necessary. We will train the right candidate. This is ideal for the high school student. The candidate we are looking for must have dependable transportation, be computer literate and able to read well. Congratulations to our winning Mom Anita Soileau in our Mother's Day Contest

KVPI had a drawing from the entries in our Mother's Day promotion on our Facebook page. Congratulations to our winning mom: Anita Soileau. Anita's daughter, Kinzey Elyse Franks submitted a family photo that includes Anita. She wrote : "I think my mom is the best mom in the world because she raised five children by herself. She taught us that no matter how tough life gets, that you never give up. She also showed us how it's important to value what you have and the value of family." Our winning mom has won a one night hotel stay, a meal for two and a spa treatment at Paragon Casino in Marksville. Congratulations to Anita Soileau from all of of us at KVPI! KVPI Family mourning the loss of Miss Bonnie Fontenot age 86

The KVPI family is mourning the loss of another long time member: Miss Bonnie Fontenot. Bonnie age 86 died Monday after a short illness. For more than 60 years, Bonnie served KVPI as a bookkeeper and Office manager. She was the voice of the 3;00pm Local News for many years. She was honored by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters for her years of service to the broadcasting industry. Bonnie retired just a few years ago after a lifetime of service. Every one who has ever worked at KVPI will have special memories of Miss Bonnie who was like a second mom to all of us. Love and prayers to her wonderful family who shared their mom with us for so many years. She is survived by her five daughters: Ramona Hardee, Rebecca Fontenot, Carla Dupuis, Lisa Hansen and Jeri Olivas, four sons- Richard Ricky Fontenot, Kirk Fontenot, Keith Fontenot and Kent Fontenot, 20 grand children, 25 great grand children and one sister- Mrs. Sherry Vidrine. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 5 from 4-8pm and Thursday from 8:00am until time of service. Ardoin's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Thursday at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and burial in Evangeline Memorial Park cemetery.

Evangeline Parish Sheriffs K-9 Unit sponsors a drug demonstration at KVPI Studios

The KVPI staff was treated today to a demonstration by two members of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department and their K9 drug dog, Diego. Captain Josh Lafleur and K9 Dog Handler Deputy Matthew Willis made the presentation to our staff. Diego was able to locate packets of drugs that were hidden as part of the demonstration. Finally, a member of our staff, DJ Rose Wolf, volunteered to wear a protective sleeve while the dog went into an attack mode and grabbed the sleeve off her arm . It was quite a sight. Thank you to Josh, Matthew and to Sheriff Charles Guillory for putting on this demonstration.

The late Jim Soileau honored as a Hall of Fame broadcaster

The KVPI staff presented to the daughters of the late Jim Soileau a special Hall of Fame award from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters for a lifetime of broadcasting excellence. Jim died March 8 after a short illness. Shown here are KVPI General Manager Mark Layne, Jamie Vidrine, Jessica Soileau and Traffic Director Cheryl DeBaillon. Jim was the long time General Manager and the French voice on KVPI. Our special thanks to Polly Johnson and the broadcasters of Louisiana.

Part Time French Announcer is needed at KVPI

Help Wanted-French Announcer April 7, 2021 KVPI is wishing to hire an additional part time announcer to handle the French News and Tradio on Saturdays. The ideal candidate will be able to speak French well and be able to translate English news and commercial copy into French. We need someone to work Saturday mornings from 7:00am to 8:00am. The announcer will be do the 7:30am French News every Saturday along with the Tradio (Trading Post) program. The chosen applicant will join a team of professionals dedicated at preserving our French language and heritage for future generations. KVPI has been recognized by broadcasters and news journals for our leadership in French language programming since we first signed on in 1953. KVPI receives broadcasting award from Polly Johnson with La. Association of Broadcasters

Today, we had the pleasure of greeting Polly Johnson, President and C.E.O. of the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters to KVPI. She personally delivered our award we won at the recent Prestige awards event. KVPI-FM won for the second year in a row the "Uniquely Louisiana" award for our coverage of Swamp Pop music through the years. Shown in the second photo are staff announcers: Deet and Rose Wolf checking out our new award. She also brought the coveted Hall of Fame award honoring the late Jim Soileau. We plan to present the award to Jim's family next week. Thank you, Polly for all you for the the broadcasters in Louisiana.

Grand Prize Winner in our KVPI Bud n Boiling contest

Grand Prize Winner Chosen March 31, 2021 A grand prize winner has been chosen in our KVPI Bud n Boiling contest today. Congratulations to Brandon Granger. Brandon has won Budweiser beer, a sack of crawfish, Crawfish boiling pot and burner. Our second prize winner is Donna Dean who has won a Budweiser Crawfish boiling pot.
