KVPI Sports Update

The Ville Platte Pitching Machine 8 year old All Stars came out Third Place in the just completed Dixie Youth District tournament in Leesville. In games played yesterday, Deridder 3 Ville Platte O in game one and in game two, Oakdale 14 Ville Platte 2. Our Ville Platte All Stars will advance to play in the state Pitching Machine tournament July 6-9 in Rayville. We want to wish all the best to our all stars.

       We have two Ville Platte Dixie Youth all star teams in important tournaments this weekend.

       The Ville Platte 12 year old Dixie Major team will host a District tournament at home at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex Thursday through Sunday. First game is Thursday at 7:30 against Westlake. KVPI Sports will be covering all of the 12 year old all star games in this tournament with Sports Announcer Micah Chatman. The team’s manager is Josh Deshotel and coaches are Chris Courville, John Pitre and Eric Fontenot. The team includes: Lawson May, Blake Hebert, Ayden Fontenot, Hayden Droddy, Bryce Deville, Colton Manuel, Evan Deshotels, Gabe Courville, Landon LeBlanc, Nick Fontenot, Ike Perry and Wade Pitre.

    Also The Ville Platte Super Tens all stars will be competing in a District tournament in DeQuincy this weekend beginning Thursday. The coaches are Jason Deshotel, Stokie Fontenot and Jared Fontenot. The team includes Tristan Mayeaux, Bryce Shexnyder, Zachery Fontenot, Hayden Deshotel, Jackson Bruney, Andrew Fay, Kaigan Comb, William Jordan, John Michael Duplechin, Gabe Fonenot, Jude Hebert and Jedd Lafleur.

   We want to wish good luck to both all star teams in these tournaments.

KVPI Sports Update

.The Ville Platte T-Ball All Stars narrowly lost to Mamou today in the finals of the Dixie Youth District tournament in Mamou. The final score was 18-17 and finish second in the tournament.The team qualifies to advance to play in the state tournament. Most of the games were broadcast over KVPI. Congratulations to our T Ball all stars for doing a great job throughout the tournament and best of luck in the future tournaments.

     Lots of sports news to share with you. We begin with our Ville Platte girls softball teams. We had four Ville Platte softball teams competing in the USSSA state softball tournament in Slidell this past weekend. The Ville Platte 10U select team coached by Todd Ardoin came out First place in that age group by beating Madisonville twice: 12-0 and then 7-0. Madisonville came out in second place while the Ville Platte 10U Rec all stars, coached by Nick LeBas came out in third place. Both teams will advance to play in the USSSA Nationals “World Series” in Gulf Shores, Alabama July 18-23. Also the Ville Platte 8U all star girls under head coach Tommy Fontenot beat Scott 10-9, defeated Metairie 11-1 , lost to Mandeville 13-7 and finally beat the Ville Platte Red Hots team 14-6. The Ville Platte 8U team came out third in their age group and has also qualified along with the Red Hots to compete in the Nationals in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

    In boy’s baseball action, the Ville Platte Pitching Machine 8 year old all stars with Coach Lance Chapman competed in a District tournament in Leesville this weekend. The all stars beat Vinton 6-2 and beat Mamou 16-0. We do not have any other scores and don’t have information on how they placed in the tournament.

   Also, the Ville Platte T-Ball all stars with Coach Justin Johnson competed in a district tournament in Mamou. The team won all of their pool play games including :beating Deridder 24-11, over Vinton 21-0, beating Vernon Southern 22-17. In bracket play, the all stars Sunday lost to Oakdale 19-9 and beat Oberlin 18-15 in an exciting come from behind victory. KVPI Sports carried many of their games over the weekend. The team next plays Monday at 5;00pm against the winner of Mamou and Oakdale to be broadcast over KVPI 1050 AM.

This weekend, the Ville Platte T-Ball all stars are competing in a Dixie Youth District tournament in Mamou. KVPI Sports will begin following the team in games beginning Saturday after through through Monday with Sports Announcer Micah Chatman.

Also, the Ville Platte 8 year old Pitching Machine all stars will begin competing Saturday in Leesville. We would like to ask a member of he Pitching Machine team to message us and keep us informed on your scores all weekend. Good luck to our all stars.

 

 

We have three girls softball all star teams competing in the state USSSA state softball tournament in Slidell this weekend. We want to wish good luck to the Ville Platte 10U Select team, the Ville Platte 10U Recreational team and the Ville Platte Red Hots all star team. We would like to ask teams to message us any and all scores so we can share on the radio and on Facebook.

The team is comprised of: Mari Edwards, Leo LaHaye, James David LaHaye, Luke Vidrine, Aiden Benoit, Carson Johnson, Layne Gremillion, Benjamin Soileau, Brant LeJeune, Sam Blanchard and Branson Mayeux. The coaches are Justin Johnson, Lucas Vidrine, Jermaine Edwards and Zac LaHaye.

KVPI Sports Update-Dixie Youth and LSU this Weekend

KVPI Sports Update

     It will be another busy weekend for KVPI Sports. We plan to cover the Ville Platte Super Tens All Stars as they host a round robin Sub District tournament Thursday through Sunday at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex. Here is the broadcast schedule: Thursday 7:30pm-Ville Platte vs. Vernon National; Friday at 6:30pm- Ville Platte vs. Mamou; Saturday- 9:00am- Ville Platte vs. Oakdale and again at 7:30pm- Ville Platte vs. Vernon American; Sunday- 6:00pm- Ville Platte vs. Pine Prairie.

   KVPI Sports will plan to carry LSU games in the College World Series from Omaha. First game: LSU vs. Florida State Saturday night at 7:00pm from the LSU Sports Radio Network.

Dixie Youth Game Updates

 

   We had two Ville Platte Dixie Youth All Star teams compete in the first week of official post season tournaments.

    The Ville Platte 8U Pitching Machine All Stars finished in second place in the sub district tournament played in Oakdale. KVPI Sports began our live coverage in bracket play Saturday morning all the way through Sunday afternoon. Here are the bracket play games: Ville Platte defeated Oakdale National 14-7; Game 2-Oakale American beat Ville Platte 8-5; In game 3- Ville Platte beat Vernon Central 10-0 and in the finals Oakdale American beat Ville Platte 17-3. KVPI Sports Announcer Micah Chatman did the play by play games over KVPI FM 92.5

   The Ville Platte 6U T-Ball All Stars competed in a sub district tournament in Leesville this weekend and came out in Third place. Here are the scores of the games: Thursday- Ville Platte defeated Oberlin 21-4; Friday- Ville Platte beat Vernon National- 17-12; Saturday’s game- Oakdale beat Ville Platte 19-18 and the final game Southern National defeated Ville Platte 18-17.

   Next weekend, the Ville Platte Super Ten’s all stars will host a sub district tournament at the Ville Platte Recreational complex. The Ville Platte 12 year old Dixie Majors have the weekend off and will by pass sub district competition because they will host their own District tournament on June 29.

Ville Platte Tee Ball All Stars in Sub District Action this Weekend

The Ville Platte Tee Ball All Stars are competing in a sub district tournament  this weekend in Leesville. Thursday: The Ville Platte All Stars beat Oberlin 21-4 and Ville Platte defeated Pine Prairie 14-12. On Friday, the Ville Platte All Stars beat Vernon Nationals 17-12. Today: the Ville Platte All Stars will play Oakdale. Good luck to our All Stars.

Ville Platte Pitching Machine All Stars games live on KVPI FM this weekend

The Ville Platte Pitching Machine All Stars are competing this weekend in Oakdale in a Sub District tournament. Last night, they beat Vernon 16-0. Today, they played Mamou. KVPI Sports plans to carry their bracket games beginning Saturday afternoon at 1:30 or 3:00pm. The games continue through Sunday. The team includes Ellis Chapman, Daniel Guillory, Lane Joubert, Atticus Lafleur, Samuel Lafleur, Aaron Lejeune, Wesley Ortego, Gavin Patin, Lane Perry, John Soileau, Rylan Soileau and Payton Veillon. The team manager is Lance Ciapman and coaches Rob Guillory, Michael Soileau and Jake Veillon. KVPI Sports Announcer Micah Chatman will be calling the games at this tournament. Good luck to our all stars.

    We have two Ville Platte all star teams beginning post season action this weekend.

    The Ville Platte Tee ball all stars travel to Leesville today through Sunday to compete in the Sub District Tournament.

    The Ville Platte Pitching Machine all stars also begin competing in their Sub District Tournament in Oakdale today through Sunday.

    KVPI Sports plans to cover the Pitching Machine all stars in their tournament beginning Saturday afternoon with Bracket games with KVPI Sports Announcer Micah Chatman.

     The 2017 Dixie Youth All Star Teams have been selected according to John Pitre, Director of Ville Platte Dixie Youth. The all star teams will begin playing in post season tournaments in the next few weeks.

     The 2017 Ville Platte Tee Ball All Star team for 6 and under include:

Alden Cole Benoit, Samuel Edward Blanchard, Jamarion Edwards, Jonathon Freeman, Layne Staley Gremillion, Carson Paul Johnson, James David Lahaye, Leo Zachery Lahaye, Brant Michael LeJeune, Branson Adam Mayeaux, Benjamin Kyle Soileau and Luke Austin Vidrine. The team Manager is Justin Johnson and his Assistant Coaches: Jermain Edwards, Zac Lahaye, and Lucas Vidrine. The team will compete in a sub district tournament June 8-11 in Pine Prairie.

    The2017 Ville Platte Pitching Machine All Star team for those 8 and under include: Ellis Randall Chapman, Daniel Trae Guillory, Lane Andrew Joubert, Atticus Yves Lafleur, Samuel lane Lafleur, Aaron Joseph LeJeune, Wesley Todd Ortego, Gavin Jude Patin, Lane Michael Perry, John Aaron Soileau, Rylan Joseph Soileau and Payton Elliot Veillon. The team Manager is Lance Chapman and his coaches: Rob Guillory, Michael Soileau and Jake Veillon. The team will participate in a sub district tournament in Oberlin June 8-11.

   The 2017 Ville Platte Super Ten year old All Stars for 10 and under include: Jackson Davis Davis Bruney, Kaigan Micahel Comb, Hayden Dane Deshotel, John Michael Duplechin, Andrew Patrick Fay, Gabriel Adam Fontenot, Zachary Beau Fontenot, Jude Layne Hebert, William Lyle Jorden, Jedd Michael lafleur, Tristan James Mayeux and Boyce Gabriel Shexnider. The Manager is Jason Deshotel and the coaches are Jared Paul Fontenot and Stokie Fontenot. The team’s first tournament is a sub district tournament June 15-19 in Ragley.

    The 2017 Ville Platte 12 Year Old All Stars include: Garbiel Aiden Courville, Evan Reese Deshotels, Joseph Bryce Deville, Hayden Anthony Droddy, Ayden Blake Fontenot, Nicholas Luke Fontenot, Adam Blake Hebert, Landon Christopher Leblanc, Richard Colton Manuel, Lawson Wayne May, Isaac Anthony Perry and Wade Aaron Pitre. The team Manager is Josh Deshotels, and his coaches Chris Courville and Joshn Wade Pitre. The team will participate in a sub district tournament June 15-19 in Oakdale.
