     Lots of sports news to share with you. We begin with our Ville Platte girls softball teams. We had four Ville Platte softball teams competing in the USSSA state softball tournament in Slidell this past weekend. The Ville Platte 10U select team coached by Todd Ardoin came out First place in that age group by beating Madisonville twice: 12-0 and then 7-0. Madisonville came out in second place while the Ville Platte 10U Rec all stars, coached by Nick LeBas came out in third place. Both teams will advance to play in the USSSA Nationals “World Series” in Gulf Shores, Alabama July 18-23. Also the Ville Platte 8U all star girls under head coach Tommy Fontenot beat Scott 10-9, defeated Metairie 11-1 , lost to Mandeville 13-7 and finally beat the Ville Platte Red Hots team 14-6. The Ville Platte 8U team came out third in their age group and has also qualified along with the Red Hots to compete in the Nationals in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

    In boy’s baseball action, the Ville Platte Pitching Machine 8 year old all stars with Coach Lance Chapman competed in a District tournament in Leesville this weekend. The all stars beat Vinton 6-2 and beat Mamou 16-0. We do not have any other scores and don’t have information on how they placed in the tournament.

   Also, the Ville Platte T-Ball all stars with Coach Justin Johnson competed in a district tournament in Mamou. The team won all of their pool play games including :beating Deridder 24-11, over Vinton 21-0, beating Vernon Southern 22-17. In bracket play, the all stars Sunday lost to Oakdale 19-9 and beat Oberlin 18-15 in an exciting come from behind victory. KVPI Sports carried many of their games over the weekend. The team next plays Monday at 5;00pm against the winner of Mamou and Oakdale to be broadcast over KVPI 1050 AM.

Swamp Pop music

The Louisana Swamp Pop Museum is operated by the City of Ville  Platte is open to the public every Friday and

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.
 

Admission charge is $3 adults,

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
