Book Author Andrew Friedman Monday at 12:30pm on KVPI AM and FM

Tune in to a week full of special interviews on KVPI AM and FM this week. Misty Parker will be talking with Andrew Friedman, the author of the new book ::"The Dish- The Lives and Labor Behind One Plate of Food" Monday at 12:30pm . Friedman introduces us to the players responsible for producing the dish, from the chefs, line cooks, and sous chefs to the servers and dishwashers. We also meet the producers, farmers, and ranchers-all while Friedman delivers vivid sensorial descriptions of walking amongst rows of crops that line Midwestern farms, the chill of the cooler where beef dry-ages, a Michigan winery grape harvest, and a day spent alongside a delivery-truck driver. He also relates often heartbreaking backstories from childhood trauma and mental-health challenges prominent among cooks to the immigration sagas prevalent among farm and restaurant workers.

La Tasse de Cafe Hosts Welcome John "Sukee" Vidrine

Our good friend, John "Sukee" Vidrine paid us a visit this morning on KVPI La Tasse de Cafe. Christmas came early for those who love Pecan Pie. He brought two home made pecan pies. I swear they are the best pecan pies I have eaten. That is why everyone at KVPI had a smile on their face and stayed away from the scale.
