Make plans to attend Mardi Gras in Bastrop, Texas

Bastrop Texas Mardi Gras January 29, 2024 Make plans to attend the first annual Bastrop, Texas Mardi Gras festival as they celebrate the rich folklife of Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. The events will take place Thursday February 1 through Saturday Feb 3 in the town of Bastrop, Louisiana. KVPI will be doing live remotes through the weekend with Misty Parker. The events being Thursday night at the Farm Street Opry at the Bastrop Convention Center. On Friday, the Mardi Gras Ball is planned from 7:00-11:00pm at the Bastrop Convention Center. Music by the Johnathans and Jean Pierre and the Zydeco Angels On Saturday, there is a full day of activities including: 8:30am-9:00am- the King Cake Bake Off at the Calvary Episcopal Church; 8:30am-1:00pm- a salute to world famous "Fred's Lounge" at Gracie's at 706 Pine Street in Bastrop with a live remote with KVPI's Misty Parker; Gumbo Cookoff from 8-12 noon to benefit a local Bastrop non profit organization; Mardi Gras Parade beginning at 10:00am. Where locals and visitors from Evangeline Parish are invited to participate ; 11:15am- DJ Tee Rob kicks off the music at the Mardi Gras Main stage 12:00am-Children's Chicken Chase 12 noon-Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys at the Main Stage 1:00-4:00pm- La. Folk Roots Petting Zoo 2:00-3:30pm- Jamie Bergeron and Kicking Cajuns on the Main Stage; 2:30-3:30pm-Steve Riley and the Riley Family Band Concert at the Library 4:00-5;00pm- Jean Pierre and the Zydeco Angels at the Main Stage. Admission to the Farm Street Opry at $7.50 per person; Mardi Gras Ball tickets $75 for one ticket $100 for two tickets and $475 for a table of eight; All of the Saturday events are free and open to the public. Gumbo cookoff wristbands are available for purchase to taste.

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
