Helmetless Motorcycle Operator Dies in Crash

 

Evangeline Parish- Yesterday, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal crash on LA Highway 3187 near Red Lick Road which has claimed the life of a Ville Platte man.

 

On February 16, 2014, at 6:10 p.m. 60-year-old Terry Thrasher of Ville Plate was operating a 2001 Honda three-wheel motorcycle north on LA 3187.  For reasons still under investigation Thrasher crossed the centerline, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree.  Thrasher, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner. 

 

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis. 

 

This crash remains under investigation.
