Ville Platte Police arrests suspect in gun theft case

An update on a recent burglary yields one arrest.  On June 25, 2013 a local business reported a break in that occurred on June 24, 2013 where guns had been stolen. Ville Platte Criminal Investigations Division during their investigation have recovered 8 of the guns and have made one arrest to date.   Rentis Austin, 36 of 1861 Marshal Frank Drive, Ville Platte was arrested and charged with simple burglary and criminal damage to property and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail.   Austin  was transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $60,000.00 Bond set by Judge Thomas Fuselier.  Chief Lartigue stated that this burglary is still under investigation as there are still weapons unaccounted for at this time.  If you have any information on this or other crimes you are asked to call the Ville Platte Police Department at 363-1313.  All calls will remain anonymous.

During the execution of a search warrant on July 17, 2013 a gun that was reported stolen from Houston Texas was recovered and arrested was Kochanski Ardoin, 36 of 113 East Beauregard Street, Ville Platte.  Ardoin was charged with Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a legend drug believed to be Seroquel.  Ardoin’s bond was set at $35,000.00 by Judge Thomas Fuselier and he has since been transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail.
