Evangeline Parish Sheriff Office Arrest Turkey Creek Couple

On July 21, 2013, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s office received a report of a disturbance involving weapons at 1036 Hazelton Lane in Turkey Creek. Upon arrival to the location Deputies located a vehicle out in the woods and the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. After further investigation, it was determined that William (Willie) Ford and Christine Fontenot had been under the influence of narcotics (meth), Ford became angry with Fontenot due to some allegations that Fords family had made towards Fontenot. Ford at that point retrieved a 12 gauge shotgun from inside the residence and exited the residence. Fontenot at this point was attempting to leave the residence in a white vehicle. Ford at this point picked the weapon up and fired a shot in the direction of Fontenot. Fontenot then proceeded to strike a tree and then drove the vehicle down an embankment and out in the woods where the vehicle came to rest. Fontenot then exited the vehicle and fled into the woods, only to be located a few minutes later in the area. Ford did admit to firing the weapon at Fontenot in the vehicle as she was attempting to leave the residence. Fontenot suffered minor injuries from crashing the vehicle into the woods. Ford was placed under arrest, and transported to the parish jail and booked on Attempted Manslaughter and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Willie Ford has criminal history expanding back to the early 1980’s.
