Ville Platte Police charge suspect with Attempted Murder

Ville Platte Police Neal Chief Lartigue reports arrest for multiple charges including attempted second degree murder. On May 16, 2022 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Street in reference to an injured male subject. Upon arrival Officers discovered a male subject laying on the porch of a residence with an apparent stab wound to the neck and a laceration on his chest. The victim stated that Ashley Edwards had stabbed him during a confrontation. Acadian Ambulance transported the victim for medical treatment. Officers located Edwards on North Dupre Street where she fled in a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Edwards disregarded multiple stop signs, a four way intersection and a red light and damaged two patrol units during her flight from Officers. Edwards was stopped near East Hickory Street. Ashley Edwards, age 35 of 514 West Oak Street, Ville Platte, was transported to the Ville Platte Police Jail and booked on charges of attempted second degree murder, theft of vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer and battery of an officer. Edwards was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Jail where she remains incarcerated on a $ 310,000.00 bond.
