Evangeline Parish School Board Meeting Highlights

Evangeline Parish School Board Meeting Wednesday, 7 October 2020 All public schools will be closed Thursday and Friday in anticipation of Hurricane Delta. At Wednesday's school Board meeting, the Evangeline Parish School Board's Technology Coordinator John Deranger announced that the long-awaited 1500 hotspots arrived last week and have been distributed to schools as requested. The Chromebooks were anticipated to arrive Thursday or Friday, but that has likely been delayed due to Hurricane Delta. Assistant Superintendent Michael Lombas discussed the personnel evaluation plan book for 2020-2021, which outlines custom-made job descriptions for virtual teachers and virtual facilitators. These are not new positions but are new job descriptions for preexisting filled positions. Superintendent Darwan Lazard recognized and congratulated former Basile teacher Jimi Bergeron for his newly published music book, Famous March Trios Set 1. Bergeron's former UL professor and mentor, Dr. Quincy C. Hilliard, was also present. In other news, the board: • Is planning homecomings for each school. Ville Platte's homecoming has been rescheduled for next Thursday, October 15th. • Reminds everyone that 30% of the 25% stadium capacities at sports events are allocated for visiting teams.
