Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office conducts drug arrests

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following: A recent drug transaction came down to just good ole police observation, when Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Investigators noticed suspicious activity in the parking lot of a neighborhood store. Investigators noticed a 1995 green colored GMC single cab pickup pull up to the store near the gas pumps. A white male subject approaches the vehicle and he and the driver conducts a hand to hand drug transaction. Upon completion of the transaction, a traffic stop was made on the driver of the GMC pickup later identified as Bart Fontenot. During the traffic stop investigators located and confiscated 9 Scheduled II pills in his possession (8 Oxycodone / 1 Amphetamine) along with cash money. Fontenot is being charged with one count of Possession w/Intent to Distribute CDS Schedule II (Methadone), and one count of Possession of CDS Schedule II (Oxycodone and Amphetamine). The investigation was furthered by conducting a Search of the residence and property where Fontenot resides. Upon completion of the search, 6 marijuana plants were located that was being cultivated in the back yard of the property. Charges are being filed on Shane Fontenot DOB 07/01/1990 for Cultivation of Marijuana.
