Ville Platte Police Hosting Prescription Drug Dropoff

On September 29, 2012 the Ville Platte Police Department will be hosting a prescription drug drop off area.  The Ville Platte Police Department is participating in this collaborative effort with the DEA and other law enforcement agencies across the state to remove dangerous or controlled narcotics from residences where the medicine is no longer needed.

The program is anonymous and to protect your identity and prescription information you are encouraged to remove labels on bottles before you bring them in.  This includes medications in pill form or liquid form.

The drop off location will be the lobby of the Ville Platte Police Department on Saturday September 29, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Injectables and syringes will NOT be accepted.

Chief Neal Lartigue encourages residents to get rid of medications they no longer need or medications that are outdated.  “Go through your medicine cabinet and turn in these medicines that you are no longer taking.” Chief Lartigue said, “The Take Back event will give residents a chance to get rid of these medicines in a safe way.”

If you have questions about this event please call the Ville Platte Police Department at 363-1313.
