Fugitive Captured by Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has released the following:

 

Tuesday evening, September 12, 2017 Deputies discovered a male subject fitting the description of Matthew Deville who was wanted by Lafayette Police Department for 2nd Degree Robbery near the 3900 Block of the Whiteville Road. After a positive identification was made Deputies and the wanted subject ensued in a foot pursuit.

 

Shortly after, Deville was located inside the culvert of a ditch. He was ordered by Deputies on scene to exit the culvert in which he complied. Deville was peacefully detained and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer and Resisting an Officer.

 

Since then Deville has made bail, and was transferred to Lafayette to face charges of 2nd Degree Robbery.
