SCHOOLS ON LOCKDOWN ARE REOPENED AFTER ESCAPED INMATE IS RECAPTURED BY VILLE PLATTE POLICE

On August 18, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m.  Officers and Detectives with the Ville Platte Police Department were advised that an inmate had escaped from the Ville Platte City Jail.  Officers and Detectives began searching and schools nearby were put on lockdown for safety.  Approximately Thirty minutes after the search began the suspect was located at his residence at 119 East Pine Street where he was found hiding in the bathroom.

Jordan Semien, 26 of 119 East Pine Street was apprehended without incident and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on the charge of simple escape.  Semien’s bond is set at $7,500.00

Chief Lartigue stated that there is no further information available at this time as the incident is under investigation.
