CHILD ATTACKED BY DOGS ON THE LOOSE

According to Ville Platte Chief of Police, Neal Lartigue, nine violations were issued for an animal attack on child.

On July 17, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m. Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to an animal complaint at Mercy Regional Hospital.  Upon arrival Officer’s learned that a 12 year old female was attacked by two dogs while riding her hover board on in the area of East Desoto Street and North Chataignier.  Officer and Detectives made contact with the owner of the dogs at a residence on North Chataignier and learned that the homeowner had multiple pitt bulls, some of which had gotten away from the residence.  The homeowner willingly surrendered the animals and received nine violations in reference to the incident.   The juvenile was treated at Mercy Regional for injuries to her lower back and buttocks area.  Investigation of this incident is ongoing.

KVPI News has spoken with the mother of the young girl and we were advised that she is at home and recovering

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of a vicious dog that is not properly secured or is running free, please contact the Ville Platte Police Department so that these animals can be removed from the streets to help prevent attacks.
