EVANGELINE PARISH MAN ARRESTED AND JAILED ON AGGRAVATED BATTERY CHARGES AFTER STRIKING SON WITH HAMMER

According to Ville Platte Chief of Police, Neal Lartigue, on June 19, 2017 Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a disturbance call on West Oak Street.  Upon arrival Officer learned that a father and son had an argument which led to the father striking his son in the head with a hammer.  As the son stumbled and tried to stop his fall, his hand and arm went through a window of the home causing cuts and bruising.  He was transported to Mercy Regional and treated for his cuts and bruises on his arm and hand and was also treated for a concussion and bleeding on his head.  

 

Joseph Shawn Fontenot, 44 of 105 West Oak Street, Ville Platte was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.  Fontenot was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $35,000.00 and was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail.
