DIXIE YOUTH RADIO AUCTION BIG SUCCESS

APRIL 30, 2017

Despite the flooding conditions and poor weather conditions on Sunday, the 2017 Dixie Youth Radio Auction was a success.

Many people took advantage of staying home, listening on the radio and calling in their bids. Later in the day as the water receded and weather improved, the civic center was busy with people viewing the items up for bids.

A cooking crew prepared hamburgers for those wanting something to eat. There were two phone lines throughout the day for people to call in their bids and they remained busy.

The items included everything from cakes and home made sweets to fishing and hunting trips. All of the items were donated to Ville Platte Youth Incorporated and Ville Platte Girls Incorporated to help fund the summer youth program for hundreds of young people.

John Pitre of Ville Platte Youth Inc. and Shane Darbonne with Ville Platte Girls Inc. would like to thank the dozens of parents, coaches and volunteers who worked all day along with the many people who turned in bids and the many businesses who donated items for the two youth programs.

The radio auction took place over KVPI FM 92.5 all day from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
