Ville Platte City Council Meeting

April 11, 2017

Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine, Tuesday during the city council meeting, reminded citizens that the city is preparing a new ordinance dealing with complaints about loud noise outside at bars, night clubs and other facilities. The remarks came following a public hearing where local residents complained about the noise coming from nearby clubs and night spots. The council is preparing an ordinance requiring nightclubs and bars to have a commissioned security officer to be present while they are open.

In a related matter, it was announced that the city is working with the planning commission to adopt a city zoning code to zone off businesses away from residential areas of the city.

The city approved a corporate endeavor agreement with the Smoked Meat Festival Association. Festival representatives Daniel Fruge and Mike Ardoin announced that this year’s festival has been moved up to early June rather than later in the month. The festival dates will be June 2 and 3 with most of the events taking place at the new Grand Pavilion area. The festival will bring back carnival rides again this year.
