EVANGELINE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD INVITES THE PUBLIC TO A CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY

Evangeline Parish School Board invites you to an evening of celebration to honor its Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year state candidates and winners from each school on Thursday, April 13 at 5:00 pm at Ville Platte High School Auditorium.

The theme, “EPSB Teachers and Principals Help Students SOAR (Succeed Over All Roadblocks),” will come alive when Michaella Fontenot serves as guest soloist. Local singers will lead the audience in singing, “I Believe I Can Fly.” Students from several of the public schools will brighten the night with original cheers and chants, while a group of students from Tim Comeaux’s science class will delight everyone with original student-made musical selections to demonstrate sound, pitch and rhythm while real “dragons” soar higher heights! As a free gift, all attendees will be given dragonfly colorchanging LED lights that will glow in the dark during the participatory candlelight ceremony.

Following the event, honorees will be driven from the school in a limousine or sedan to an elegant evening dinner at Cajun Catfish and Steak House in Ville Platte (on the Chicot Road). School board members, supervisors, judges, students, teachers, and principals will dine there together. As a special treat, Mayor Jennifer Vidrine will present city baskets to the three district Teacher of the Year winners, Middle School Principal Sherral Tezeno, and High School Principal Liz Chatelain. Come out and SOAR with the Board!
