Boggy Bayou Festival This Weekend in Pine Prairie

BOGGY BAYOU FESTIVAL

   The 33rd annual Boggy Bayou Festival is scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 6-8 at the festival grounds located one mile south of Pine Prairie on LA 1172 (Heritage Road.)  All of the proceeds go for the benefit of the Prairie Manor Nursing home.

   The festival royalty includes” Boggy Bayou Festival King is Pine Prairie Mayor Quint West. Outgoing Queen Shelbi Ryals will crown the new festival queen Saturday at 2;00pm. The Senior King is Calvin Lavergne age 70 of Opelousas and Senior Queen is Ethel Fontenot, age 75 of Pine Prairie. Both are residents of Prairie Manor Nursing Home.

Thursday- 3;00pm- The festival and carnival opens; From 3-7pm-Pay one price for unlimited carnival rides; 5:0pm- Flag raising and opening ceremony; 5;30-6:30- and again 7:30-8:30pm- Amazing Magic of Marty magic show. 6:45pm- Hula Hoop contest7:00-7:30pm- Pine Prairie Cheerleaders. Admission $3 per person.

Friday: 3:00pm- Festival opens with 3-7pm- pay one price for unlimited carnival rides; 4;00pm- Budin eating contest; 4:15pm- Amazing magic with marty magic show5-6pm- Music by Donna Harmon’ 6:00-8:30pm- Mitch Attales and the Burn House Band; 7-11pm- Pay one price for unlimited carnival rides; 8:30pm-Auction on stage;9:30pm- Wicked Waters Band; Admission $6 for 13 and older and $3 for 12 and under.

Saturday: 10;00am- Festival opens; 11:00am- 1:00pm- Cajun music by Jamie Berzas and Cajun Tradition; 1-5pm and 6-10pm- Pay one price for unlimited carnival rides; 1-2pm- music by Donna Harmon; 2-4pm- Boggy Bayou Queen’s Pagaent; 4:00-4:30pm- Annual Egg Toss contest; 4;30-6:30pm-Paul and Pete Band; 7-9pm- Ashton Dupre and Last Call band; 9:00pm- Auction on stage; 10-12:30am- Charley Rivers. Admission $6 per person 13 and older. $3 for 12 and under.

  There will be a live KVPI FM 92.5 radio remote broadcast Friday night from 6-8pm. Be sure to come join us.

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.
 

Admission charge is $3 adults,

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
