February 14, 2017

The Ville Platte Rotary Club today (Tuesday) heard from Jill Stevens, an architect during their weekly club meeting.

Stevens, a native of Vidrine, graduated from Vidrine High School and got her master’s degree from LSU. She and her husband moved back to Ville Platte a year ago and they are located next to Miles Briley Allstate Insurance.

She explained in detail the differences between architects,  draftsmen and engineers. She has eight years of experience in interior design. She specializes and loves doing residential projects even though she can do commercial projects.

In most construction jobs, the architect is the team leader and coordinates the job.

A draftsman can get their degree in two years and generally works with an engineer. They can draw up home plans.

She stated that engineers come in various specialties: mechanical, electrical, structural,  geo technical and civil .

Jill Stevens was the special guest of Rotarian Nicole Fruge.

It was announced that officials from LSU-E will be the special guests at next week’s rotary club meeting.
