SCAM

JUNE 3, 2016

A spokesman for Evangeline Parish Sheriff Eddie Soileau is warning local residents to be aware of a phone scam going on. The scam involves callers calling local and area residents saying they represent a government agency saying the local resident has a won a grant or is coming into some money. They need your bank account or social security number to transfer the money. Deputy Darrell Fontenot said he has personally received several callers all with a foreign accent. You cannot see where they are calling from. Please do not give them any personal information and  hang up on these type of callers is the advice to local residents.
