Rotary Hears from Teachers of the Year Tuesday

VILLE PLATE ROTARY CLUB MEETING

     The Ville Platte Rotary Club today (Tuesday) heard from the Teachers of the Year on the parish (District) level in Evangeline Parish. Rotarian Toni Hamlin, Superintendent of Schools said she was proud of  her instructors who were named as Teachers of the Year: Elementary Teacher of the Year: Yvonne Breaux Johnson, Special Ed teacher from Pine Prairie; Middle School Teacher of the Year- Lisa Cullivan Jack from Mamou; and High School Teacher of the year-Alice LeJeune from Ville Platte High.

    Supervisor Grace Sibley said the ten judges had a difficult job to narrow down the 21 nominees from the school level to choose three.  She said these three teachers will compete on the state level. Last year, the school district had a principal win state principal of the year with Cherie Fontenot, principal from the James Stephens Montessori School.

   In other business, Larry Lachney announced the winners in the College Championship football pool for the benefit of the Coreil Campus. The winners for each quarter included: Joe Guillotte, Rob Eastin, Dr. Joey Soileau and Ville Platte Rental.

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
