Early Voting Totals are less than last year's numbers

Early Voting Ends

October 18, 2015

Early voting for the October 24 election ended Saturday at the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voter’s Office.

Registrar of Voters Lucas Buller reported to KVPI News that a total of 1832 people voted between October 17-17. The number does not include voting by mail. Among the offices up for election is a sheriff’s race, several police jury races and a governor’s race. The number is about half of the number of people who voted a year ago in 2014 in which there were two open judge’s races along with a U.S. Senator’s race. Last year there were 2913 people who voted early.

That number was still much less than the  2008 Presidential election in which President Obama was first elected along with a third try for a school board tax. That was a record number in which 3833 people voted early according to Buller.
