Rotary Club hears from Steve Williams with Union Tank

VILLE PLATTE ROTARY CLUB MEETING

OCTOBER 13, 2015

The Ville Platte Rotary Club today (Tuesday) heard from Steve Williams Plant Manager at Union Tank Car Company explain the benefits of R.O.T.C. in paying your college education.

Williams, who is retired from the Air Force, shared his personal story of how going through R.O.T.C., he was able to pay his tuition. Right now, enrolling in the program, it will pay four years of college with a seven year payback: four years of active duty and three years of Air Force reserve.

The Air Force also offers Tuition Assistance where the Air Force will pay tuition while you’re on active duty.

Another program being offered to veterans is called the Post 9-1-1 G.I. Bill approved by Congress. This benefit offered to veterans since 9-1-1 will pay four years of tuition, books and living expenses.

In other business, Rotary Club President Mitch Fontenot reminded club members of the Fellowship program next Tuesday night at 6;00pm at the Cazan Lodge. There will be no noon meeting next week.

Also club members along with Interact students will meet Saturday from 9-12 noon to help clean up at the Native Plant Heritage Garden Walking Trail .
