Rotary Foundation presentation shown at Club Meeting

 

      The Ville Platte Rotary Club Tuesday heard from special guest Mark Lacour, past District Governor and currently the District Rotary Foundation representative. Lacour talked about how important it is for club members to contribute to the Rotary Foundation each year. The goal of every Rotarian should be to contribute every year. He said 92% of all of the funds going to the foundation goes directly to help the needy worldwide. The administrative fees to run the foundation is only 2 percent.

     Lacour showed a video presentation of his trip to India and Belize with other Rotarians. In India, polio has been totally eradicated with the assistance of Rotary. In Belize, Lacour showed how Rotary is helping with clean water for local residents. Lacour was the special guest of Rotarian Greg Vidrine.

    Also speaking was Eunice Rotary Club President John Pucheu who invited the local club to attend the first annual Experience Louisiana festival to be held October 17 and 18 on the campus of LSU Eunice. There will be live bands and lots of native crafts and booths. He urged the local club to man a booth at the rotary sponsored festival . He also urged the local club to bring their Rotary wheel.

Was reminded that their Shots for Tots program will begin in October at the Health Unit. More details will follow by Mayor Jennifer Vidrine;

New member induction ceremony will be held November 3 and the local club will sponsor a fellowship event October 13 at the Cazan Lodge.

Swamp Pop music

The Louisana Swamp Pop Museum is operated by the City of Ville  Platte is open to the public every Friday and

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.
 

Admission charge is $3 adults,

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
The museum is located on

Northwest Railroad Avenue.
