Single Vehicle Crash Claims Life of a Palmetto Man

 

 

 

 

         A Palmetto man was killed in a single vehicle accident this (Tuesday) morning in St. Landry Parish, according to a spokesman for State Police Troop I. The victim was identified as Mervin Cane age 63 of Palmetto, the driver of a pick up truck.

         The state police report that the pickup truck was traveling eastbound on LA 10 when for some unknown reason, traveled to the left, crossed the center line and into the ditch. The pickup struck a private drive embankment and utility pole before come to a rest. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Evidence indicates that the driver possibly suffered some type of medical attack prior to the crash.

            The investigating officer was Trooper Chris “Scott” Simmons. This is the 31st fatality in the State Police Troop I area in 2011.
