Due to the failure of having a quorum attend a special meeting Wednesday, the Evangeline Parish Police Jury could not take any action.
The meeting was called by President Eric Soileau to appoint a member to represent District One. The seat was held by Police Juror Davis Manuel until earlier this month when he stepped down as part of an agreement with the District Attorney’s Office following a report from the State Legislative Auditor. Whoever is appointed to represent the District One-Chataignier area will serve until the next police jury elections in the fall.
The jury has until May 5 to appoint a member or the governor will make the appointment.
President Soileau said he is considering calling another special meeting early next week.
