KVPI Sports Update

KVPI Sports is following our two Ville Platte Dixie Youth teams competing in the Dixie Youth regional tournaments being played in Ruston, Louisiana. Both our Dixie Minors, the Super Tens, and the Dixie Majors, the 12 year old all stars, are participating in these tournaments. Both team first day games were cancelled Friday because of the heavy rains that fell in Ruston so tournament officials doubled up games on Saturday.

Here is a recap: The Ville Platte Super Ten all stars played game one at noon Saturday and beat Blanchard 11-0. Their second game was Saturday night at 9:00pm and they beat Gonzales 10-0.Sunday night, the Ville Platte Super Tens beat Patterson 18-4. They will play tonight (Monday) at 7;30 against Gonzales over KVPI 1050 AM

In the Dixie Majors tournament, our Ville Platte 12 year old allstars beat Springhill 9-1 in the first game at noon Saturday. In the game two, the 12 year olds beat Rayville 15-2. Last night, the Ville Platte 12’s lost to Sabine 7-4. The Dixie Majors 12 year olds will play at 5:30 today (Monday) on KVPI FM

We have two sports announcers broadcasting live in Ruston. KVPI Sports Announcer Micah Chatman is covering the 12 year olds while Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux is covering the Ville Platte Super Tens.

Also, KVPI Sports is making arrangements to cover the Ville Platte 10 and under Select girls softball team coached by Todd Ardoin that will be competing at the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Their pool play games begin Wednesday.  KVPI Sports Announcer James Shiver will be back in Gulf Shores to cover our girls.
