Pony League Tournament a big success this past weekend in Ville Platte

PONY LEAGUE SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT

JUNE 27, 2016

It was one of the largest number of people  that assembled this past weekend at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex for the first ever Pony League Sectional Softball tournament.

Tournament Director and Complex Manager Thomas Scully told KVPI News that the tournament was a big success. There were a total of 46 teams that participated in the three day tournament. The only downside was the oppressive heat. Two of the umpires were overcome with the heat. None of the girls were overcome.

Hundreds of people packed the complex and the City Park fields for the three day tournament.

Two of the Ville Platte teams took first place: the 6 and under and 10 and under teams won their category. The Ville Platte 8 and under girls took second place honors. Three of the Rayne teams took first place: the 8 and under, 12 and under and 14 and under girls.

Scully reported that it looks good for the city to receive the Sectional tournament again next year.

On behalf of the city and the recreation board, Scully would like to thank all of the officials and volunteers for making the softball tournament a big success.
