Ville Platte Police arrest suspect on drug and murder charges

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue reports that On April 13, 2018 Officers made an arrest in a case stemming back to 2016.  Detectives through their investigation followed leads and obtained evidence to issue a warrant of arrest where the suspect provided illegal narcotics that led to the death of a Ville Platte resident in July of 2016.  Jeffery Fontenot 32 of 169 Valerie Lane, Ville Platte was arrested without incident and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail charged with 1 count distribution and possession of a schedule II narcotic and second degree murder.  Fontenot was transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $90,000.00 bond.
