Nickie Toups of Eunice Rotary Club Special Guest at Local Rotary Meeting

VILLE PLATTE ROTARY CLUB MEETING

    The Ville Platte Rotary Club, today (Tuesday) heard from guest speaker Nickie Toups. Toups discussed her long association with nursing homes. She has worked in all facets of nursing home operations. She said her passion is to help senior ciitzens. For a number of years, she worked in 27 states helping nursing homes get in compliance with government regulations. Nursing homes are the second most regulated industry in the country according to Toups. She is currently the administrator of Eunice Manor. Toups invited members of the Ville Platte club to attend the Eunice Rotary Club Golf Tournament August 12 at Coushatta Casino Golf Course in Kinder. The event is for the benefit of the non -profit Eunice Community Health Center to help residents who are uninsured or under insured get medical care. Toups was the special guest of Rotarian Dan Poret.

   In other business:

--Rotarian Darwan Lazard was given the Paul Harris Fellow award by Leonard Glenn Fontenot and Club President Wayne Vidrine for his contribution to Rotary Foundation;

--Acknowledged Janice Helmer, outgoing secretary,  who was honored last month as Rotarian of the Year for her six years of service as Secretary to the club;

--the club heard from Assistant Supt. Of Schools  Michael Lombas asking local residents for donations of used furnishings for Immersion Program teachers coming in from France such as dinette sets and living room furniture to help defray travel expenses. French immersion will begin in the early grades at Ville Platte Elementary and Mamou Elementary schools.

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.
 

Admission charge is $3 adults,

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.

Northwest Railroad Avenue.
