The annual Book Fest was held today at the Ville Platte Branch of the Evangeline Parish Public Library. Under clear, sunny skies with a cool, northerly breeze, large crowds of people attended the event. The Friends of the Library had a huge used book sale, pet adoptions, face painting and nearly a dozen authors in attendance. In addition, Alyssa Carson of Baton Rouge, a future astronaut was there. Plenty of delicious food like baked chicken, jambalya and BBQ pork steaks. Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI was there broadcasting live on remote this morning.
