Athlete Physicals take place at Healthworks Rehab Thursday

 

        Several hundred student athletes from Sacred Heart, Ville Platte High and Pine Prairie attended the annual athlete physicals sponsored by Heathworks Rehab on Thursday. This is the 14th year, Healthworks Rehab has been sponsoring this free event. Professionals in various medical fields donated their time and talent to review each athlete to make sure they are physically ready to compete during the upcoming school year. There were physical therapists, medical doctors, nurses, dentists and many others doing the exams. KVPI Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux was there broadcasting live speaking with Andy Poche and David Vidrine with Healthworks Rehab along with such coaches as Coach Yves Prince from Pine Prairie, Coach Josh Harper from Sacred Heart and Coach Jorie Randall of Ville Platte High.

KVPI Sports Update

KVPI Sports is following our two Ville Platte Dixie Youth teams competing in the Dixie Youth regional tournaments being played in Ruston, Louisiana. Both our Dixie Minors, the Super Tens, and the Dixie Majors, the 12 year old all stars, are participating in these tournaments. Both team first day games were cancelled Friday because of the heavy rains that fell in Ruston so tournament officials doubled up games on Saturday.

   Here is a recap: The Ville Platte Super Ten all stars played game one at noon Saturday and beat Blanchard 11-0. Their second game was Saturday night at 9:00pm and they beat Gonzales 10-0.Sunday night, the Ville Platte Super Tens beat Patterson 18-4. They will play tonight (Monday) at 7;30 against Gonzales over KVPI 1050 AM

   In the Dixie Majors tournament, our Ville Platte 12 year old allstars beat Springhill 9-1 in the first game at noon Saturday. In the game two, the 12 year olds beat Rayville 15-2. Last night, the Ville Platte 12’s lost to Sabine 7-4. The Dixie Majors 12 year olds will play at 5:30 today (Monday) on KVPI FM

    We have two sports announcers broadcasting live in Ruston. KVPI Sports Announcer Micah Chatman is covering the 12 year olds while Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux is covering the Ville Platte Super Tens.

   Also, KVPI Sports is making arrangements to cover the Ville Platte 10 and under Select girls softball team coached by Todd Ardoin that will be competing at the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Their pool play games begin Wednesday.  KVPI Sports Announcer James Shiver will be back in Gulf Shores to cover our girls. Listen to special shououts from the team players all week beginning on Wednesday over KVPI. A second Ville Platte 10 year old team won the world series title with Coach Nick LeBas just last week.

KVPI Sports Update

    Congratulations to the Ville Platte 10U all star girls who this afternoon defeated Trussville 6-3 and who have won the USSSA World Series CHAMPS. Ville Platte played the team three times, late last night and lost 9-5, came back and played them at noon and beat them a second time for the championship title. KVPI Sports was there almost since the beginning. We covered 9 games for the team live from Gulf Shores, Alabama with Sports Announcer James Shiver. We are proud to have been able to bring most of the games to family and friends in the Ville Platte area.

 

     KVPI Sports is preparing to cover our Ville Platte 12 year old Dixie Majors and Super Ten year old Dixie Minors all star teams this weekend with tournaments in Ruston. The Ville Platte 12 year olds will play in a Dixie Youth regional tournament with first game Friday night at 7:30pm over KVPI FM with Sports Announcer Micah Chatman. Our Ville Platte 10 year olds will also play in a regional tournament in ruston with first game at 5:30pm over KVPI 1050 AM with Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux. Good luck to both all star teams.

   Our Ville Platte all-star teams represented Ville Platte well in two Dixie Youth State tournaments in North Louisiana over the weekend.

   The Ville Platte 8 year old Pitching Machine all stars competed in the State Pitching tournament in Rayville, Louisiana. The team claimed the championship title in the consolation bracket Sunday. KVPI Sports was there for most of the games with Sports Announcer Micah Chatman. Here is a re-cap: Ville Platte beat West Monroe 10-4 at noon Sunday to claim the championship title in the consolation bracket. Earlier Sunday, the all stars beat Alexandria 14-6. On Saturday, Ville Platte defeated Oakdale 19-9 in game one followed by beating Union parish 13-6 in the later game. In the Friday pool play games: Ville Platte beat Patterson 18-1, defeated Rapides 14-5 in game two and lost to West Monroe 8-1 in the final pool play game Friday.

   The Ville Platte 6 year old T-Ball all-stars finished in 5th place in the state T-Ball tournament in Shreveport over the weekend. Their final game Sunday, our all-stars lost to Oakdale 19-11. On Saturday’s bracket games:, the early game had Shreveport defeat Ville Platte 12-6 and in the later game Ville Platte beat Bossier 15-7. On Friday’s pool games: Ville Platte defeated Jena 23-7 and Alexandria  beat Ville Platte 12-4.

  Congratulations to both all star teams and coaches for representing us well in the state tournaments. We’re proud of your accomplishments.

The Ville Platte 8 year old Pitching Machine All Stars played three pool play games today in the Dixie Youth Pitching Machine State Tournament and KVPI covered all three games for listeners and fans back home. Here is the re-cap:


Game 1- Ville Platte over Patterson 18-1; Game 2: Ville Platte over Rapides 14-5; and West Monroe beat Ville Platte in the night cap 8-1. Bracket play begins tomorrow morning and we will be there covering it. As soon as we get start times, we will pass it on to you.

 

The Ville Platte T-Ball all stars are playing in the state T-Ball State Tournament going this weekend in Shreveport. Here is a re-cap of today's action: Game One-Ville Platte defeated Jena 23-7 and in Game two- Alexandria defeated Ville Platte12-4. The action continues in bracket play on Saturday. Good luck to our all stars.

 

Gulf Shores, Alabama will be the scene of the USSSA Girls Softball World Series and Ville Platte will have three girls teams represented there. Starting next week, our Ville Platte 8U and 10U Rec teams will be competing in their respective brackets. KVPI Sports will be covering the Ville Platte 10U girls games. Starting July 19, the Ville Platte 10U Select All Star girls will be competing in the world series and KVPI is making arrangements to carry those games. Doing play by play for the world series will be Sports Announcer James Shiver for family and friends back home in Ville Platte. Good luck to all of our all star girls teams.

Dixie Youth Game Updates

Here's an update on local baseball action involving our Dixie Youth All Stars: The Ville Platte 8 year old Pitching Machine all stars ended up in a tie tonight in the first game of pool play action in the state tournament. Final score: Ville Platte 12 Benton 12. Ville Platte was down 12-5 in the sixth inning when Ville Platte all stars came roaring back to score 7 runs to tie it up. Pool play games can end in a tie. KVPI Sports will begin carrying the pool play games at 10:15am and 2:15pm Friday over KVPI AM with Sports Announcer Micah Chatman. Also the Ville Platte T-Ball all stars playing in Shreveport this weekend for the state tournament beat Shreveport Continental 16-1 in 3 innings. Good luck to our all stars!!

     The Ville Platte 8 year old Pitching Machine All Stars will compete in the state Dixie Youth State tournament Thursday through Sunday in Rayville, Louisiana. KVPI Sports is making arrangements to carry these games. Their pool play games begin Thursday night at 6:15pm. We will begin coverage on Friday with two pool play games at 10:15am and again at 2:15pm both games will be on KVPI AM. Bracket play games begin Saturday through Sunday and we will be there covering the games with Sports Announcer Micah Chatman.

      Also the Ville Platte T-Ball all stars will compete and play in the state T-Ball tournament this weekend in Shreveport.

      In girl’s softball action, the Ville Platte 8 year old all stars and the 10 year old Rec all star teams will compete in the USSSA World Series in Alabama. Pool play games begin Monday.

      KVPI wants to wish the best of luck to all our all star teams.

Dixie Youth Game Updates

   The Ville Platte 12 Year old Dixie Major All Stars defeated Pine Prairie all stars Sunday night 13-0 in four innings. The undefeated Ville Platte team advances to play in the championship game today against Mamou All Stars today (Monday) at 5:30pm to be broadcast live over KVPI FM 92.5 with Sports announcer Micah Chatman. Earlier in the weekend Ville Platte beat Westlake 16-0, beat Vernon 11-1 and Mamou 6-0. All of the games are being played at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex.

   Also the Ville Platte Super 10’s Dixie Minors are undefeated in a district tournament being played in Dequincy. Ville Platte will play in the championship game Monday night at 6:00pm against Oakdale. In earlier games, the all stars: beat Vernon 7-1, beat Oakdale 16-7 and defeated South Beauregard 5-1.
