High School Softball and Baseball Updates:

Here is the latest update on High School Baseball and Softball: KVPI Sports is making arrangements to broadcast both local softball teams going to the state softball tournament in Sulpher this weekend. The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans will face Ouachita Christian in a semi final game Friday at 11:00am and should they win, they advance to play in the championship game Saturday at 1:30pm. Also, the Mamou High Lady Demons will play Caldwell Parish Friday at 1;30pm in a semi final game. Should they win, they will play Saturday at 1:30pm, In High School Baseball action, we have three high school baseball teams advance to play in the state playoffs: Sacred Heart will host St. Edmunds in a best two out of three Friday at 5:30pm, Saturday at 1:00pm and if need be at 4;00pm Saturday. We are making plans to carry these games. Also, in Bi District action, Pine Prairie travels to play North Vermillion Monday at 4;00pm and Mamou High will travel to play Iowa Tuesday at 6:00pm. We want to wish good luck to all our local and area teams.

High School Football Kicks Off Friday

Football has arrived in Evangeline Parish. KVPI Sports presents another year of High School Football on 92.5 KVPI and on classichits925.com. First up, the Evangeline Parish High School Football Jamboree featuring all parish football teams: Ville Platte, Sacred Heart, Mamou, Pine Prairie and Basile with our KVPI Play by Play announcer Tracey Jagneaux and color analyst James Shiver. The first jamboree game begins at 6;00pm Friday. KVPI Sports will be carrying games from every team in the parish through the season. We want to thank all of our game sponsors and want to wish the best of luck to all of our parish teams.

Both Ville Platte Girls Teams were eliminated today at the USSSA World Series

Here is a final update on our Ville Platte girls competing in the USSSA World Series in Alabama.The Ville Platte 8 U girls all stars lost to Mill Creek Georgia in Game One of Bracket Play and our girls lost 4-1. In game two of bracket play, the all stars of Ville Platte lost to the Mobile all stars 7-2. KVPI 1050 The Legend was able to broadcast their pool play and bracket games.Special thanks to our many sponsors and Coach David Lahaye for his announcing.
The Ville Platte 10U girls competed in the world series and here are the scores: In game one of bracket play, our Ville Platte girls lost to Slidell Warrior Reds 9-3. In game two, the Ville Platte all stars lost to Citronell, Alabama by a score of 5-3. We want to thank Rebecca Ardoin Fontenot from the team who kept us updated on scores.
We want to congratulate both girls teams for representing us well at the World Series. We are very proud of the players, coaches and parents who played like the true champions they are.

Dixie Youth baseball Tournament Action begins Thursday Night

KVPI Sports plans to broadcast the East Sub District baseball tournament for the T ball all stars. The games begin Thursday night through Sunday afternoon at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex. We will be broadcasting all of the Ville Platte All Star games starting Thursday at 5:30pm with all of the games to air on 92.5 KVPI with Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux.
Also the Ville Platte Pitching Machine All Stars begin sub district action in Oberlin Friday.
We are asking for team photos for our all star teams so we can post them on our social sites. Call Mark at KVPI at 337-363-2124. Good luck to all of our local and area teams.

Sports Update

    In a game broadcast live on 92.5 KVPI, the Sacred Heart High Lady Trojans lost to Cedar Creek Academy 14-0 .

   KVPI Sports plans to broadcast the Pine Prairie High Lady Panthers as they take on Kaplan in the quarterfinals at the state softball tournament in Sulpher. Game time Friday is 2:30pm Friday live on 92.5 KVPI FM. If the Lady Panthers win, they move on to the semi finals Saturday at 2;00pm and the finals at 7:00pm Saturday and we will be there with KVPI Sports Announcer Tracy Jagneaux.

  In high school baseball action, the Sacred Heart Trojans hosts St. Martin Episcopal in a best 2 out of 3 tournament. First game Friday at 4:30pm, game two  at 11;00am Saturday and if need be a game three at 3:00pm.

   The Pine Prairie High Panthers will travel north to take on #1 ranked Sterlington  in a best 2 out of 3 tournament: Friday at 6:00pm, Saturday at 1;00pm and if need be 4;00pm.

    Eunice High will host North Vermillion in a best 2 out of 3 tournament. Game one is 6:00pm Friday, Saturday at 12 noon and if need be at 3:00pm for game 3.

   St. Edmunds travels to play St. Johns. Game one was Thursday night at 5;00pm. Game two at 4;00pm Friday and if need be a game 3 Friday at 7;00pm.

    Opelousas Catholic will host University Academy of Central Louisiana  in a best 2 out of 3. Game 1 Friday at 4:30pm, game 2 Saturday at 11;00am and if need be 2;00pm Saturday.

High School Softball and Baseball Playoffs Announced

     KVPI Sports is making arrangements to follow both Evangeline Parish Softball teams who will be competing in the State Softball Tournament this weekend in Sulpher.

    The Sacred Heart High Lady Trojans will take on Cedar Creek in Quarterfinal action Thursday at 12 noon.

    On Friday at 2;30pm, the Pine Prairie High Lady Panthers travel back to Sulpher to compete once again in the State Tournament as they face Kaplan in Quarterfinal action.

    The baseball playoff brackets have been released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. We have three boys teams competing in the high school baseball playoffs.

    In the Bi District first round, the Pine Prairie High Panthers will host Westlake. Also the Mamou High Demons travel to play at Iowa. Both games have to be played by Tuesday. The Sacred Heart Trojans will host St. Martin Episcopal Next weekend. Times and dates will be announced.

Sacred Heart Baseball Saturday

KVPI Sports will broadcast the Sacred Heart Trojans baseball game Saturday at 11:00am as they host Ouachita Christian on Classic Hits 92.5 KVPI with KVPI Sports Announcer James Shiver. Pre Game at 10:45am.

High School Boys Basketball Results

High School Boys Basketball Playoffs in the first round:

 

From Friday Night action:

Ville Platte High defeated Vidalia 87-62 in a game broadcast on KVPI FM. The Bulldogs advance to the second round. They travel to take on Rayville Tuesday night. KVPI Sports are making arrangements to broadcast this game.

Sacred Heart Trojans lost to St. Johns of Plaquemine 75-31 in another game we covered Friday night.

Madison High beat Mamou 68=61.

White Castle beat Basile 93-30.

Northwest beat Green Oaks 56-47

Westminster beat Catholic of Point Coupee 71-51.

High School Boys Basketball Brackets Released

       The brackets have been released for the start of the Louisiana High School Boys Basketball Playoffs.

       The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has announced the first round Bi District pairings in our area include the following scheduled for Friday night:

Ville Platte High Bulldogs will be hosting Vidalia;

Sacred Heart Trojans will travel to play St. John High in Plaquemine;

Mamou High Green Demons hosts Madison High from Talullah;

Basile High Bearcats travels to play White Castle;

St. Eds travels to play St. Martin Episocopal in Metarie.

   KVPI Sports is making arrangements to carry some of these games . Keep listening for more details.

Boudin Bowl #10 broadcast last night on 92.5 KVPI

 

   The 2018 Boudin Bowl is history. KVPI Sports carried this historic game last night on 92.5 KVPI. KVPI Sports Announcer Tracey Jagneaux and Tim Fontenot called the game. The final score: The New England Minutemen beat the Philadelphia Egrets by a score of 38-28. We want to say congratulations to our football pool winners who won prizes at the end of each quarter: First Quarter Jackie Foret; Second Quarter Terry Arnot; Third Quarter- Byron Doucet and Fourth Quarter Winner- Marty Manuel. Basile Travels to play Oak Grove

Basile High Bearcats advances to the third round of the state playoffs to the quarterfinals. They will travel to north Louisiana to take on Oak Grove, near the Arkansas line. The Louisana Swamp Pop Museum is operated by the City of Ville  Platte is open to the public every Friday and

Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos,records, Wall of Fame and hear the music.
 

Admission charge is $3 adults,

$2 seniors and $1 for children under 12.
The museum is located on

Northwest Railroad Avenue.
